A long time ago I posted a link to my moonbase called Copernicus City.
My homepage has a link to it:

     www//ourworld.compuserve.co/homepages/brian_h_nielsen

I havn't updated the web site with images of what I've built on it since
then, but it is now populated with several buildings - an expanded Ore
Processing facility, a Refinery, a Tokamac reactor, a Factory, new Living
Quarters (with an attached Recreation Area and a Greenhouse), an
Observatory, and a couple Storage Buildings.

When I can spare the time I'll try and make some updates to show it's
current state.

I really like your baseplate module approach.  One possible improvment to
consider is the connection method between modules.  When you only have to
connect to one other modules the technic pins will work fine, but when you
have to connect or disconnect with 2 or more preexisting modules it may be
cumbersome.  Imagine what you'd have to do to remove the center module from
a 3x3 layout.

A possible alternative to the 1x2 technic beam is to use a 1x1 with side
facing stud, with the stud facing the outside of the connecting corridor.
Now when you line 2 modules up you'll have 2 studs on the outside that you
can lock together with any variety of 1x2 pieces.  A 1x2 tile with raised
bar, 1x2 tile with short thinwall, 1x2 with center stud, 1x2 plate, and
probably others all work well, just don't use a 1x2 tile as it would be
difficult to remove easily.  Now removing, replacing, or adding a new module
is a breeeze anywhere in the layout.  Also the 1x2 connector pieces can add
small architectual details - add 1x1 round translucent cones to those 1x2's
with center stud and you've got lights to illuminate the way for the
vehicular traffic passing underneath!  There are lots of possibilities.

Hey Brian. You sent me an email as well but I think its identical to this so I'll just reply here. I haven't been able to get to that page yet. It says something about it being 'down for maintenance' or something. I also appreciate your thoughts on (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jul-02, to lugnet.space)
