I was going to wait for Chris Giddens to get home from vacation but I just
finished this page on his site (and I'm impatient) so I thought I'd unveil

Looks like a cool idea! The only suggestion I would make is instead of 2 1x2
technic bricks on the connectors, use 1 on the left, and a 1x2 brick with
technic pin on the right (or vice versa) - saves worrying about technic pins!

mmm... pick a side for a standard but allow people to still use pins if they
want. We have tossed these same sorts of ideas around for module
interconnects in the trains genre. While the cast in pins make for a more
solid connection and no lost pins they DO have two drawbacks... they make
the module bigger because they stick out, (and worse, make it bigger in an
awkward way) and they catch on things, and can break off or damage the
things they catch on (like car upholstery)

I had planned on being the Moonbase coordinator at next year's brickfest
(even though Jon's taken the initiative and made the web page) as I was
going to make a large landscape module for the layout.  As such, i was going
to bring a large bag of technic pins, similar to what Troy C. did for the
castle layout, so that every technic pin in the layout belongs to one
person, so they all end up at the same place when the layout's taken apart.
I have lots of black friction pegs so losing a couple really won't bother me
much.
