I think all these would be nice. However I think the 2 I’d like to see first are
more I/O and more memory.

I think this is mostly a software issue, and AFOL solutions (well at least
one) are already
available. Note that more memory and faster processor would help in this area
though.
Of course it would be nice if there was a DCC equiped train motor available, or
train wheels that could connect to already available motors. But I think I’d
rather see 3rd parties developing these.
I think these should also be done by third parties (including by not limited to
AFOLs). I don’t think LEGO should spend the research time & dollars on these -
this is a kids toy!

Yes, all of these would be nice, also a stepper motor. But again, I don’t think
LEGO should be the one to do them.
