I have (yet another) suggestion.  This should help people decide where and how to
"make their marks", and will help decide if a robot does a bad job of looking for
the mark, or a bad job of making a mark.

On the pre-printed board, print a small (about 1 inch) light gray circle (new gray?!?)

Each "X" must pass through that circle, and each "O" must surround the circle.
This, of course, would be a guideline, but robots that ignore the guideline could be
allowed to compete at their own risk.
