Maybe you were dyslexic on those apparently clockwise staircases. 8^) Or
the defenders fought their way UP the clockwise staircases and DOWN the
counterclockwise. Or maybe the lefthanded defenders fought on the clockwise
steps...
Hmm... Now that you mention it, though, I'll have to double-check.

| (...) :) How do you define clockwise? Does that mean going up, the pillar will be on your right, and the outer wall on your left? If so, I can definately remember some of them - its the ones where the central pillar is on the left as you walk up (...) (25 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
