Just about ANYTHING you say will offend SOMEONE.  If you worry about
offending 0.01% of the population, give it up, you're hopeless (want to bet
that true 100% Gypsies are even less that 0.01% of the population?), just put
yourself out of our misery now..

Sure, but that doesn't give you free reign to go around purposefully saying
things that you *know* are going to offend people.

No, the proper justification for the *right* people have to go around saying
things that they know are going to offend people (at least in America), is that
we have a constitutional right to do so (with certain limitations, see my other
post). Todd's Terms and Conditions can limit this right, by agreement, but the
United States Congress cannot, even by agreement.

If more people would
realise that *everyone else* is a person *just like them* with similar hopes,
dreams, fears, and so forth (rather than the current [again, America-centered]
idea that Life is about being Happy, and Whatever Make You Happy is the Most
Important), maybe some of Us would get along better. Maybe not; it seems to me
that the only common thread in human behaviour is that we don't like one
another.

Yes, this is courtesy, and this is a Good Thing(TM). But courtesy is not
madated by law. Freedom of speech is (at least in America).

Actually, the most of the world's population have more important things to worry about than being offended. Things like having enough (...) (24 years ago, 15-Apr-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
