Absolutely! Let's get out the rocks! Don't worry about hte men who commit
the 'adultry' with them, for men shouldn't be held responsible for their
transgressions. And women should be seen and not heard! And don't touch
the skin of a pig, or sow two differing field types side by each! Yeah,
maybe a Biblical redactor is needed--Maybe a exposition on Isaiah 5:8?
Taking the specific passages *in context* to the overall implications of the
Bible is what is needed. Fast-talking and "well-meaning" Christians take
specific passages out of context.
Further, as my biblical scholar girlfriend would also point out--the Bible
wasn't written in English, nor was the grammar/word meaning the same as it
is today, which leaves for much word-wrangling--"What does that arabic word
mean in english?"
So when these pseudo-Christians point to passages that say "See, this is why
homosexuality is an abomination to God!" Well, no. That's someone's
english interpretation thereof. And as certain scholars who have studied
the text have written, most of these passages condemn sex between older men
and young boys, not the condemnation of sex bwtween adults of the same sex.
Further, since my SL is quite into social justice, there are maybe a dozen
(if that) passages that even talk about "homosexuality" in the entire Bible,
and Jesus himself barely mentions it--the majority of His teachings are
about social justice, and stewardly financial responsibility to the orphans,
widows and poor. Not judging others also comes to mind, but that's neither
here nor there.
And yet somehow today, we fixate on the all-time God-condemning abomination
of consenting adults behind closed doors whilst stepping over the homeless
on our streets.
To you and yours I say, "Shut up and take a seat."
