BAYLIT - (for my part)
I'll be short and to the point.
Brickbay is great, but it still doesn't answer the needs most builders have for
volume parts. Maybe LEGO Direct will, but I still have my doubts. They're out
to increase profits.
Case in Point - the new 3723 set. I'm sure there's some unique parts in that
monstrosity, but most if it can probably be duplicated with a couple of bulk
tubs. And they want what??? $160 (including shipping) (gasp, gag) That's a real
set-design markup there. (I digress...)
BAYLIT ...
... is just about to move, on the next update, to an Access database.
Excel doesn't cut it. I have too many columns of sets.
Sure it's not real time, but I have soo many parts, I am out of stock rather
rarely.
Fees: No domain = no fees... And web space is practically free these days.
If I sold $500 a month on Brickbay, I'd exceed my current monthly internet
access, email, and space fees. (and with Brickbay I'd still need 'net access
and email) ... I sell a bit over that.
I try to maintian a decent selection of parts. Believe me, it does hurt
everytime I open another 1775 for new parts..

| Jon: You've got your own site (BAYLIT), and you seem happy doing your thing. That's great. I just felt the need to address some of your comments. (...) Is that because of Brickbay's design/services, or just because people aren't selling in (...) (24 years ago, 7-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.services)

| (...) <snip> (...) Actually, it didn't seem to me you had all that many parts. The scale of parts seemed like it would fit BrickBay very nicely. That said, I was very impressed with your formatting and layout. An impressive site, just not much on it (...) (24 years ago, 14-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.services)

| (...) The chance of Brickbay moving to Lugnet is unlikely because Lugnet runs on a Unix server [1] while Brickbay runs on NT server. What I'd like to know is what it would take to get other Lego businesses (for example BAYLIT) to move to Brickbay. (...) (24 years ago, 3-Sep-00, to lugnet.market.services)
