I'm in a bit of a quandry. I won an auction several weeks ago from an eBay seller, and have not yet received the package. I have been communicating with the seller this week, and now he is offering to send me the items again, if I pay a portion of (...) (24 years ago, 7-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.auction)

All of John's advice seems very sound to me. I have tried to be cooperative with sellers, but it's true that the onus is on them to show proof of mailing however much they may try to shift that burden onto the buyer with a variety of disclaimers. Rob, Lar: I don't disagree with any of what you fellows have been stating. If you want to sell stuff and refuse responsibility for items damaged in the mail and state this up front to the buyer, no problem. If you want to include a proof of mailing (...) A mail carrier in another newsgroup clued me in to the mysteries of d.c. and insurance earlier this year after some misfortune with the USPS I ran into. The most recent case of a Postal employee discarding mail was here in Durham NC. Fortunately he got caught. In that instance, most of the mail was mail which was supposed to be forwarded or returned to sender. Your story about the delivery (...) (24 years ago, 9-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Well, sometimes sad stories have happy endings. I received the package today (fortunately I was holding out until tomorrow to send more money). To All, Well, I use bubble mailers with ziplock snack size bags for most of my shipments, I switched over to Priority mail for obvious reasons with the small boxes now (VBery good of ther postal service to have this, IMO), but I have had no (...) (24 years ago, 21-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.shipping)
