I think that's the implication. If you decline to request delivery conf, you
are at least implicitly saying you will take the sellers word for it. I know,
that's not good enough for the IRS, but it is for most sellers. Hence I don't
allow it as an option, and always charge for it. I don't want to be in the
position of being accusable of malfeasance.

Ditto for insurance. If you decline to request insurance, you are accepting
the risk. I think most everyone agrees on these concepts.

Where we differ is on the level of implicitness. And the point is taken with
me, in future I am going to be *much* more explicit on this point... so there
can be no mistakes. (and I think my policies are among the clearest out there
already)

If a buyer says, after the deal closes, that they won't pay for delivery conf,
I would say no sale, and the buyer owes me for the transaction fees if any.

If a buyer says, after the deal closes, that they want insurance but won't pay
for it, again I would say no sale and the buyer owes me for transaction fees.

If a buyer says either of these things to me before the sale closes I would
reject their bid.

I would advise other sellers to do the same: Be more explicit. Explicitness
never hurts.

<snip good packaging advice>

Again, why I use prio and prio only, and charge through the nose for shipping
to boot. Brand new packaging is free. And I get enough incoming that I can be
unstinting with newspaper, bubblewrap, peanuts, whatever it takes.
