I remember looking at the Lego shelves during the late eighties and nineties
and thinking much the same thing. Maybe I was just trying to justify my lack
of interest.

Now I'm actually building with them again I'm thinking how wonderful all
these new pieces are. I remember how exciting it was in the late 70's when
the minifig appeared, and a few years later when the space theme and all
it's new parts appeared. The variety of parts available today is amazing.
Any percieved specialisation of a part is purely subjective. I just know I
can use those rowboat pieces in a spaceship somehow.
