http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=82222 “vehicles of Vereinigte Faschistische Staaten des Neues Reichs”

And I wonder: What on earth do moderators on BrickShelf think when they pass something like this? Well, of course those galleries are “safe for kids” since there is no nudity included...

But such Nazi-romanticism is not safe for adults at all. Believe me. There are more than enough idiots in Germany and maybe elsewhere as well who wish back a “New (German) Reich”. But the old German Reich is nothing a reasonable person would ever romanticise about. Only war-glorifying lunatics and moronic racists would deny the appaling facts of the gone fascistic German Reich and make fun about it or portray it in toys. Unless they make an aestheticised statement against war and fascism that is. (Like that Polish artist did with the KZ sets made of LEGO bricks a few years ago. He is not a fascist of course.)

Besides this the clause “vehicles of Vereinigte Faschistische Staaten des Neues Reichs” is grammatically incorrect.

So, to cut a long story short: I’m totally against the censorship thing on BrickShelf. In cases like this, though, as we have the moderators anyway, they should act responsible and not pass every crap just because it’s “safe for kids”.

Well, this is quite the discussion, isn’t it? Seeing this post, and the link to that Brickshelf gallery, I feel compelled to shed some light on the whole situation of the builder. That gallery belongs to my friend, Eric Anger. The models he’s built may seem to portray Naziism and such, but he is no supposter of that. He’s built the models as part of an “alternate dimension” based off of WW2-era Earth. He has a MOCpages site (located at http://mocpages.com/home.php/309), which explains all that. On the front page of his MOCpages site, Eric wrote:

The year is 1941, the countries that once existed no longer do, think of it as a parallel universe... Of the countries of Irkaydiarn, the strongest of the countries on the right side of the small sea of Garoytsiav are the Ishtarians. The Lophtians and Hyamenatar are allies to the great Ishtarians. On the left side of the Garoytsiav lies the powerful Ceiteish. The Shayon and Ravenarians are allies to the Ceiteish. Both sides fight over the large island of Calinarmentosh, which is full of resources, and is located right in the middle of the Garoytsiav. It’s the largest island in the Crokanwith archapelago of 14 islands, all of which are full of resources as well. Beyond the mountains of Grahyov, which lie north, lies the mysterious and dark empire of the Caruminkyavs. Little is known about these people, when ever a plane is sent to the area, it never returns and all contact is lost... To the south lie the Fronyesh, a peaceful, friendly people, who declare neutralicy in every war.
which clearly states he does not suppost Naziism or anything, and is just making up stories in a “what if this happened instead” fasion. So please, let’s not accuse him of anything just for having some fun and making up a “what if” type story.

Hoping this helps with the situation,
-Matt Sklar
