Yes, Larry has really hit the point here, even though I thought that I had
come close to it in an earlier response.
Even though my earliest memories include Lego, and even though the Train bug
bit me at the same time that my collecting started, (age 11,) my true passion
for the brick, (well, minifigs at least,) escallated when when I saw Castle,
and knew that I could combine two of my loves; Lego and AD&D, (well, most RPG,
Cause I'd love to do some Traveler or try Gamma World, and now Brickwars is
here). Metal (puewter [sp?] figs don't do justice to what can be done. No
variety, weapons changes, (what happens when you sheild shatters in a critical
hit, cut the shield off the puewter?), magical items, etc. The painted figs
don't hold up well to being handled and used for actual play. (They are
wonderful ornaments though.) My only problem with this is trying to reconcile
the height disparity. (I've given up on that, though; any world I would run
would have just halflings... oh well, {I'd open up class restrictions though}.)
I'm hoping to play some brickwars this weekend, trying to get people over to
the house on Sunday, but we'll see.
BTW, the EASTCOAST LEGOFEST in D.C. will probably feature some sort of RPG
gaming, to include Brickwars, or AD&D, or that crazy Pirate Game, (if we can
get Steve Jackson to Show up,) which will really show our specialties. When is
the FEST, you ask? We are planning for the weekend of the 10th and 11th of
June. Hopefully the kids will be out of school, and lot's of people can come
on over to play with us here in the nation's Capitol!

Assuming I get weasel the charts out of Steve, I think I would be quite capable of running the pirate game (it's even possible I have more stuff than Steve now, I'm not sure since he (...) | (...) Good point. From that aspect, beyond my apparent specialty in buying (which I do certainly enjoy, it has been a factor in just about every hobby I have ever participated in), another specialty would definitely be community building. I also (...) (25 years ago, 29-Mar-00, to lugnet.general)
