Frankly, this is where I'm coming from.  I'm excited by this conversation as
I'd already done a little customizing, and I'd love to get
professional-quality pre-cut printing, but I don't want the same minifigs as
someone else.  For this reason, I'll probably avoid the sheets and do my
own, risking life and limb with Xacto for the sake of Lego...

I think I'm looking at this project from a totally different perspective
than everyone else.
I'm viewing this project primarily as a group of people who have some design
ideas and want to combine efforts to save on the cost of making quality
custom torso and shield designs. The Second objective is to satisfy the
palate of multitutes of castle fanatics who want to see some new designs for
their villages and castles.

Well, I've been lurking for a while watching this thread and I can tell you
where I'm coming from.

I'd buy some of these sheets no matter what ends up being on them - original
art, scans/copies of Lego stuff, you name it.  I agree the original art will
be the safer and perhaps nicer way to do it.  But as long as enough of the
designs are good and interesting (and most I've seen so far, especially
Kevin's incredible ones, fit that qualification) I'll buy in.

I think if you were only talking about the small handful of people who had
done this themselves getting together to do this you'd end up paying a
fortune for it even if you could stomach buying a few hundred sheets each.
And I don't think anyone needs tens of thousands of stickers.  :)

So I think the second objective may be second from your perspective, but
it's how this venture will end up being paid for, I bet.

I'm not saying my POV is the right one by any means.

Not right or wrong, just your POV.

I'm personally really excited by this discussion but I don't have much to
offer other than the ability to pitch in and help buy sheets.  I'd be buying
for myself only, not looking to buy and serve as some sort of after market
burster, though.

I'm hesitant to offer suggestions for kinds of torsos beyond saying I like
what most people have said so far.  I don't have the talent to do this stuff
myself, so I'm content to let you creative types do your thing then just
help out on the money side to make it happen.

Uhm... I think people have been skimming a little too much and not looking -closely- at what we've been saying. At no time did we say we'd charge for stickers made from SCANS of existing TLC artwork. I did scans for my own uses, and used them as an (...) (23 years ago, 9-Feb-01, to lugnet.castle)
