Okay, I see that I was shooting for a kill and all I got was a dent.
My point was to be made by what I'm calling the lot number, it may be • the
position number of the part on the sprue and mould number, who knows.
The point is that number changes from part to part which would mean you
have to model all the different variations, which is; in soto voice, to • much
work for anyone and begs the question, do we really want to get that
technical?

Roy

If you added the numbers on the bottom of the pieces (which even appear
in different sizes and different spots on the piece depending on the age)
you would have to model the indentation under each "solid" stud too.  Can
you imagine trying to create a plane full of holes (ie, the top surface
of the piece.  Each hole would then be covered by a stud.)  You would
need to make two such planes for each part _and_ put cylinders between
the planes.
Needless to say, I think it's best if we stick to the standard that if
it's shown in official TLG instructions, we model it, if not, we don't.

(...) Hmm. We'd just make a new primitive, including the stud, the indent beneath the stud, and the ndis's around them (maybe the entire 10x10LDU surface). 1 16 0 4 0 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 4 4-4edge.dat 1 16 0 0 0 4 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 4 4-4edge.dat 1 16 0 0 0 (...)
