Does someone want to take over in the multilanguage support area?

I wouldn't mind doing it if we use the Apache approach.

No problem.  From what you have told me about Apache, I feel that it
will work well with this site.  Thanks!

I think this pushes us further towards the need for a (temporary
if anything) newsgroup at lugnet.cad.ldraw-org to focus discussion
better.

I agree, and you also will have a nice convenient mailing list that way too
as a byproduct.

Possibilities for the newsgroup name:

Newsgroup name:                   Shows on webpage link as:
============================      =============================
lugnet.cad.org                    ldraw.org
lugnet.cad.ldraw-org              ldraw.org
lugnet.cad.ldraw.org              ldraw.org
lugnet.cad.dev.org                ldraw.org
lugnet.cad.dev.ldraw.org          ldraw.org
lugnet.cad.dev.ldraw-org          ldraw.org

Notes:

1)  The forms *.ldraw.org only make sense if there is a whole *.ldraw
hierarchy, which there is in the virtual sense...

       http://www.lugnet.com/cad/ldraw/

(for links and other organizational purposes) but there is not a
*.ldraw hierarchy in the newsgroup sense.

2)  The forms *.ldraw-org are better semantically but not as good
    syntactically.

3)  It is good to keep in mind support for other .org groups/clubs/LUGs
which exist now or which may pop up in the future.  Examples:

baylug.org   SF-Bay Area LEGO Users Group
pnltc.org    Pacific Northwest LEGO Train Club
gmltc.org    Greater Midwest LEGO Train Club

So a naming structure forward compatible with more things like these
would be good.  In other words, it doesn't make sense for there to be
a lugnet.trains.org group because there are two large train clubs.

On the other hand -- and maybe here is the answer -- the order should
    simply be reversed, i.e.

       lugnet.trains.org

    for general trains-organization stuff and

       lugnet.trains.org.pnltc
       lugnet.trains.org.gmltc

    for more group-specific stuff.

    Similarly,

       lugnet.cad.org.ldraw

    makes perfect sense to me.

(...) How about something like: lugnet.org.ldraw -> www.lugnet.com/org/ldraw lugnet.org.baylug -> www.lugnet.com/org/baylug lugnet.org.pnltc -> www.lugnet.com/org/pnltc lugnet.org.gmltc -> www.lugnet.com/org/gmltc etc... Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 13-Apr-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)
