For sure, yes! -- 2188 being available only on ferries certainly counts! :)
But they're two different aspects of the word "ferry" -- one is a set which
represents a model of a ferry, the other is a set which has nothing to do
with ferries but which is obtained from riding on a ferry.
So the Colorline aspect of "ferry" is more of an actual category, and the
ferry-model aspect of "ferry" is more of an attribute -- but both can be
represented with fuzzy sets/categories.
Here's my goal w.r.t. something like "ferry": When someone does a search on
the word "ferry," the system should return either: (a) simply a link to
each of those two categories, which can be clicked on for more expansion, or
(b) an automatic and interleaved leaf-node expansion of those two categories
giving links to all the sets within those categories and subcategories of
those categories, or (c) both a and b.
I think it'll work pretty well in practice; I made a prototype of a fuzzy
LEGO-piece database search utility a while back -- it expanded an
arbitrary-depth tree (or a graph with cycles) so that when you asked for
"car" elements -- it would look up "car" and see that "car" consisted of
sub-sets like "chassis", "car-door", "tire", "hub", "wheel-axle",
"wheel-well", etc. Those sets in turn had other sets as members, and so on
down to actual elements. With zillions of overlapping sets/categories and
diminishing percentages as subsets are expanded, the return-results on
queries were quite amazing. (I'll dig up some actual examples later.)

Yeow, it sure is! Thanks for the other examples...seems to be no end to
them. Maybe a promo set is anything that's not in a regular catalog or only
in stores for a short time or only available through a third-party...with
some sets having a higher "promotionalhood" to them than other sets. I
think the Trick or Treat Halloween bucket and ANWB sets rank pretty high as
on the promo scale, while things like 6512 Landscape Loader rank pretty low
on the promo scale (it's only marginally a promo set because it was featured
in Del Monte puddings -- or was it in a breakfast cereal? -- but was also a
"real set").
Thank god we at least have the number ranges as a starting point, and that
the number ranges are "correct" in almost all cases!

| (...) Yes! We have examples of sets with promotional numbers being sold in retail outlets and sets with non-promotional numbers being sold as promotional items. 2149 would have a 'promtionalhood' of 100%, as its only available from Color Line 2148 (...)
