Here is the direct link to the Brickshelf scan -

I didn't think to look on brickshelf. I assumed no-one else had seen it
given it hadn't been mentioned here!

It's a neat set, for sure. Personally I'd rather have seen a blue train,
making it more suitable for UK prototypes, but even so this has to be the
best and most realistic train LEGO have ever produced. It comes close to
some of James Mathis' designs!

My eyes are wildly bugged-out!  This Super Chief is beautiful.

Yes! Definitely among the top 10 of best designs within the last 10 years!
Only compareable with the Sopwith Camel and the 5571 Black Cat Truck.

Huw: thanks for the compliment, but I am not this good.

Haha! We all know you are. I have not been the only one who said: James must
have joined the development department of TLC (A picture has leaked out a few
days ago and there was much mailing on the 10020 since then). First your
interview on Lego.com, now this beautiful train. If it is not your design, the
TLC model builders will have surfed your brickshelf galleries for sure for
some hours....

I think this Super Chief model far surpasses my study on the f7.  I just took • a look back at my
(feeble) attempt at the f7 some years ago in the 70's era Amtrak "headless
arrow" livery:

The Super Chief locomotive is *so* much better!
I'm very impressed.

Your F7 is a quite "old" design of you (in www times even two years are like
ages). But your BR 103 shows in fact lots of similarities to the new 10020. And
since then your building abilities should even have been improved. With
additional new parts (or new colours of existing parts) you are for sure one of
a handful persons who could make up such a beautiful model like this!

Gray wheels:  Looks like Ben Beneke got some attention...or at least some of
what he's wanted for some time, now.  Very cool!

Indeed! Now the same in red, please! (We Germans need red undercarriages for
all our steam engines and especially their tenders)

Love that red front windscreen.

That is the reason why I will order at least 3 of these engines. One for the
collections of sets and another two of them to have a pair of buffers and red
windows available for MOCs.

Kind Regards,

Ben

(...) I don't know, Ben. I don't think James has the heart to invest so much time into designing a DOMESTIC model such as the chief. He's much to brainwashed with that European bug. :^) Actually, I'm sure quite a lot of inspiration came from James (...) (22 years ago, 16-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)
