The reason I think we should do this is because if we lump all the model's
together, the model's with modified parts would have an unfair advantage

would encourage development of both types of building simultaneously.

I've gotta disagree here - sometimes finding the best way using modified parts
is just as much a challenge as doing it "pure". (Yes, I have used some modified
parts - I just don't like to broadcast it!.)

So I'd like to see models with minor mods welcomed in MoTeC with open arms -
there's already too much compartmental dorkism in the world 8?) I see it as no
worse than (as others have mentioned) non-LEGO string, ballast etc, which are
specifically allowed (and have been used by yours truly). Does there need to be
a limit to the amount of modification? Probably not - models with too much will
probably get less votes, anyway.
