I'm generally a pretty tolerant person, but when it comes to Lego, there are
2 caegories: 100%-as-it-came-out-of-the-box and all the rest.

I've slid a bit, I guess. I still don't like cutting of elements (although
maybe if it was done by someone else that had a computer controlled milling
machine!) but I now fully support (as in, I use them in my production custom
sets):

- custom printed stickers (MTW-4001).
... but only if on high quality plasticised paper
- custom lengths of flex tubing (MTW-1002, MTW-1003, MTW-1004, MTW-3001)
- non LEGO(rm) string that looks exactly like the real thing (MTW-1004)

Don't hate me for it, purest of the pure! TJ is right, if LEGO themselves
advised you to cut something it's hard to see how you could argue against
cutting it!
