Seems to me that QGJ was doing a lot of what most would call dishonest, • if
not downright evil, things with the Force.

Well, no one seemed to mind when Obi-Wan or Luke did it in the first
trilogy... "These aren't the droids you're looking for" and "You will take
me to Jabba now" etc, etc.

That is not the same.  He used his abilities to outwit KNOWN enemies.  For
all QGJ knew, Watto might have been the commander of a whole army of little
blue freaks that were going to overthrow the Trade Federation.

I think Jedi believe that the ends justify the means. They look at the
bigger picture. It seems foolish to be stopped by an "inconvenience" such • as
a bad hyper-drive and Wattoo's refusal to take his money.. He needed those
parts! Heck if he's gonna let some flapping blue freak stop him. Much • bugger
things were at stake here.

OK.  So end justifies the means.

QGJ:  Hmmm, this little blue flying freak won't let me have the parts I
want, he won't let me "borrow" Anakin without half the winnings from the
podrace, he won't let me have both Anakin and his mother, and Anakin may not
go with me to see the Jedi Council without his mother....   Hmmmm.

[QGJ pulls lightsaber] VRAMMMM SWISH SCHLLUURRP

[Little blue freak head goes flying]

QGJ:  Now no more problems.  Take parts, take Anakin, take mother.  Hmmm.  I
like the end so it is justified that I kill little blue freak even though
(in this case) he is an innocent bystander.
