Right. And once again I will cite a prior movie scene:
Luke: "Is the Dark Side stronger?"
Yoda: "No. Easier. More seductive. Quicker to enter a fight."
I think what I am trying to say is what Yoda said there. Yeah, it was EASY
for him to just coerce Watto into doing what he wanted, and he had good
reason. But that STILL doesn't make it RIGHT.
Who knows? Maybe Watto is just one of those irascable types that will
eventually do the right thing, but not until you listen to him gripe about
it for a while. After all, Anakin and his mom were slaves, but it looked
like he took awful good care of them. They had their own dwelling, and he
even let Anakin off work early if he went and did one specific job. Doesn't
sound like a COMPLETE scumbag that was only interested in his own self.
Maybe his scumbag image was only for those that didn't know him too well,
and for those HE didn't know too well. Maybe it was a "takes one to know
one" kind of defense. If you think he's a scumbag, you might be less likely
to pull a scumbag trick on him because he is watching for it.
But of course QGJ will never know, because he didn't take the time to find
out.
Also, that got me thinking. Wouldn't mind control take just a little bit of
mind reading? I mean they should have to make contact with the others' mind
to try to make them do anything. Wouldn't QGJ have known that Watto would
not be suseptible to the JMT because he couldn't make contact with his mind?
Or is it just a bradcast kind of thing where you send it out and hope it is
received?
