I was going to say I like Jupiter a whole lot too. It always at once
reminded me of the god and the planet. I guess that was how it was supposed
to be though.  Anyway great music.

Actually, of Holst, I really enjoy the Jupiter suite. It's sort of has • that
feel like a triumphant return of the forces that fought in the Mars suite.

I do like Mars, a real lot, it's the one everyone seems to know. What I
really like about it is the false ending, where it seem like maybe the bad
guy has been vanquished only to make one last stab at the forces of light.
(This is just my own interpretation).

If I am building large spacecraft, though, I find that the most
inspirational music is from the classical suite "Holst: The Planets", • which
I heard was a primary influence on John Williams for the Star Wars
soundtrack. The piece entitled "Mars: The Bringer Of War" is • particularly
evocative of a cataclysmic space battle. It's probably my favourite • piece
of
orchestral music.

I'm kind of partial to Jupiter. It has a BIG, majestic sound.

Oh, agreed - that's my second favourite in the suite. When I hear the bit
where the horns repeat the eight-bar phrase over, but deeper and louder • each
time, I always picture a panning shot of a big spaceship beijng • outflanked
by a bigger capital ship, which in turn is outflanked by an enormous • capital
ship, which is then dwarfed by a GIGANTIC capital ship... hopefully you • get
the idea.

Cheers,
Paul
