I don't always have music on while building, due partially to the
blocked-off area I build in where sound doesn't travel too well, and
partially due to the fact that I barely hear it while building-the actual
process takes all of my attention.  When I do put a CD in, it usually is one
picked out from stack of essential CDs.  They read as a quite odd pile:
Episode 2 Soundtrack
Episode 1 Soundtrack
Assorted Star Wars tracks
Soundtrack from The 6th Sense
TA game CD disk 2
RCA Victor Basic 100 Volume 27 (Holst's Planets+ Vaughan Williams)
RCA Victor's "Welcome To The Classics"
Return Of The Comet (a weird NPR (or something similar) published-CD from
the 80s)
Soundtrack from Crimson Tide
Soundtrack from The Hunt For Red October
Assorted tracks from various sources (The Story of Prince Kalender,
Beethoven's Funeral March, Beethoven's 5th, Second Movement of Beethoven's
7th, soundtrack from The Rock, soundtrack from The Truman Show, pretty much
everything Jeremy Soule has ever written, Carmina Burana, Marche Slav, title
theme from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, soundtrack from Blade Runner,
and perhaps one or two other things.)

I have odd tastes.

I was curious what everyone listens too during an ideal building session. Do
you listen to music? Do you keep the TV on? Is silence golden?

I make mostly space and sci fi stuff so I usually break out electronic
music while building. If I'm feeling energetic its usually Trance like Sasha
or Paul Van Dyke. If I'm kinda mellow it would be something ambient like
FSOL or Orb. Midway between these would be maybe Orbital, Underworld or
Plaid. I listen to all sorts of music but I love a good beat while building.
For late night building on weekends its sometimes nice to leave the TV on
the History channel or another network without infomercials.

So how bout you guys?
