I've seen a number of really creative MOCs of canon vehicles. Some of them are
better than their official counterparts, others are less so. It's not so much a
matter of searching for a suitable SW design for the MOC program, but taking the
chance if one pops up. The challege will be acheiving the level of detail seen
in the AFOL world, while still keeping much of the sturdiness, play-worthiness,
and affordability seen in TLC releases.

Easier is not always best. Besides, the way the MOC program is supposed to work
is that TLC shows up at your doorstep and says, "We like this MOC and would like
to market it." If they were going to do that for a SW MOC, they'd probably
already have cleared the basic design through Lucasfilm because it would be
horribly embarrassing to come back a day later and say, "Sorry, George says it
sucks."
