Glad you asked :-)

Primarily Ken Takeuchi’s Dartanian and Sparta. No surprise there. White and light-gray suggest large scale to me.

But I wanted to take the concept in a sleeker direction, but for a while I wasn’t sure how. So along comes secondary inspiration in the form of the Jedi Starfighter wedge slope piece. I buy a big stack of them, build a graceful curve and the Lance is born.

The Flame was different. I wanted to go in a different direction again, a bit more Yamato-ey. I think the Dan Jassim’s Dragonstar (a big fave of mine) ended up being more of an influence than I first realised, especially with the bridge design. The bow design was definitely an effort to capture the businesslike techyness of the Sulaco. I’ll keep that part for a new ship, I think (along with the engines).

Cheers,
