Glad you asked :-)
Primarily Ken Takeuchis Dartanian and Sparta.
No surprise there. White and light-gray suggest large scale to me.
But I wanted to take the concept in a sleeker direction, but for a while I
wasnt sure how. So along comes secondary inspiration in the form of the Jedi
Starfighter wedge slope piece. I buy a big stack of them, build a graceful curve
and the Lance is born.
The Flame was different. I wanted to go in a different direction again, a bit
more Yamato-ey. I think the Dan Jassims Dragonstar (a big fave of mine) ended
up being more of an influence than I first realised, especially with the bridge
design. The bow design was definitely an effort to capture the businesslike
techyness of the Sulaco. Ill keep that part for a new ship, I think (along
with the engines).
