  Re: voice synthesis

(...) This is the text-2-speech chip, but it doesn't include the allophone synthesizer (SP0256) so unless you have an allophone synthesizer this won't do you much good. --Chuck (27 years ago, 7-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Jeff, JDR Microdevices sells the General Insturments CTS256AL2 chip (GI8642CAA) for ** $4.95 **. This is (I think) a slightly newer version of the same chip that Radio Shack used to sell. (...) Wow, impressive board. However, it's a bit out of my price range - I was hoping for a solution just about as cheap as the Radio Shack one used to be. Hi Dale, For this to work a couple of things have to be true, first the Start_LCD, Stop_LCD, and putlcdchar() functions have to be located in the 256 bytes of on-board RAM (or in the 512byte EEPROM) The second thing is that your putchar_LCD doesn't (...)
