I think that everyone who thinks that to have intellegence you must have a computer communication system. Look at what Bert van Dam did, and only using the RCX. Looks like most of your questions have been answered, but I'll add a couple points ... The camera is variable focus - you have to manually rotate a focus ring on the front of the camera (like similar PC cameras). I wish LEGO would have built gear (...) Every one that shipped after the OEM update came out shipped with the latest OEM version of Windows 95. See that sticker on your computer that says "Designed for Microsoft Windows xx"? same thing as another poster. I'd hardly call it an event. The one here in chicago had a wall climber, two of the new droid robots, and some p.c.'s set up running lego ads. That was it. Doug, better start chewing on at least an arm. The original retail version of Windows 95 did indeed not support USB. But starting with OEM Service Release 2, USB support was added to Windows 95. I'm willing to bet that the issue here isn't even technical (as far as the software is concerned). It is probably the installer script which was written to check if the platform is for Win 98 or NT - and when it doesn't find either, it doesn't let (...) Not exactly.... The output is an analog voltage, meaning it's not exactly a digital TTL 0 volts or 5 volts, but ranges from 200mv (call this low) to Vcc-200mv (call this high). From looking at the data sheets, it's going to be a bit more of a project than just "hooking it up". At a minimum you'll need to have a small micro to decode the dual PWM outputs, and they (AD) have a data sheet describing the use of a Parallax (...) Ncm is the metric measure for torque, imperial is ft/lb's hence 5Ncm is the the amount of torque required before the gear will 'slip', 2.5Ncm before it will engage again. the difference is the hysterisis. one would assume that Lego has a range of (...) BTW, the Duplo MyBot control unit must have a similar sensor built in. It detects acceleration or tilt in four different directions. It's a closed system however, powered by 2 AA batteries. Using the more restrictive criteria that the resistors only come from Radio Shack retail stores, you can't build a bullet proof four switch mux. Is it just me or do other people have problems when they build gear mechanisms sandwiched between technic plates? Time to jump in.... The FOS uses a small surface mount LED. It's about 2.5mm x 3 mm and mounted to a thin PCB. There are what look like diodes and what I would guess are current limiting resistors on the board also, so good luck trying to have (...) (...) Yes. Of course. Those are the best ones. LED's are basically just Diodes that make light. So you can "Twist" two LED's together to get one on each polarity. (...) If you don't use a tiny ultra bright one you won't get much... Also, the circuit it the thing is already making sure the power flows to the LED one way. So you'd have to disable that as well if you want the multicolour LED's. My favs are the (...)
