Looks like most of your questions have been answered, but I'll add a couple points ...
The camera is variable focus - you have to manually rotate a focus ring on the front
of the camera (like similar PC cameras). I wish LEGO would have built gear teeth
onto the ring so that you could drive it with a LEGO motor and control the focus
remotely.
When I have made a video using the LEGO software, it creates a .avi file. I don't
know if it's possible to have it create MPEGs directly.
