I think Suzanne hates MS more than I do. She's had only bad user-experiences
with Windows, whereas I've have mostly good user-experiences in Windows. On
the other hand, I've also had many years of bad programming experiences in
Windows NT which have tainted me. I could have and should have been learning
Unix stuff then instead. But that's a long story.
Believe it or not, I have always have felt very strongly (and still do) that
web pages look by far the best under Windows than any other OS. This is
mostly because of the fonts that come pre-installed on all Windows systems,
but also because the browser makers seem to try harder to make their stuff
look nice on Windows.
To date, all LUGNET webpages have been designed to look as good as possible
first on Windows, then on the Mac, and finally on other systems (striking a
balance whenever possible, of course, but with Windows getting priority).
I pray for the day that web pages on Unix systems look even have as good as
they do on Windows. The font support just isn't there yet. I doubt they'll
ever look right on Macs because they boffed the default font size many years
ago and now they're stuck with it -- unless someone makes some ballsy moves
in an OSX browser.

p.s. BTW, have I mentioned yet that there is a departmental mandate where I
work that no MS software be used on any of the mission-critical systems (i.e.,
webservers, fileservers, Kerberos servers, database servers, etc.)? You
should have seen me skipping happily down the street after the first interview
when I learned that.

| (...) Well, I'm not sure how you're measuring 'Lugnet' here-- either as the group using it, the admins personally, or the 'Lugnet-as-a-company's view on the issue. Certainly to say such of the users is rather laughable, at best. To say so of the (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
