  Age range for Model Team

This is interesting: 1989 - 1993 catalogs show the age range as 9 and up. 1994 - 1996 catalogs show the age range as 9 - 16. 1999 S&H catalog shows the age range as 9+ I don't have any other catalogs :-))) The box for 5571 shows the age range as (...)   Re: A large Steam Locomotive & others

Steam locomotive would be cool. But not in minifig scale !!! In minifig scale we have Trains series. Models in Model Team must be bigger. With much more details like classic Trains. But not only trains would be cool. Also ships. What about Titanic ? (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: A large Steam Locomotive

The Chopper is a too big, but not ridiculous looking with minifigs in it. It only looks silly next to some of the other minifig choppers they have, which are way too small for the role they play. (Police choppers and med choppers are much larger (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  RE: A large Steam Locomotive

Well yes, a true minifig-scale train would be a nice size, but could it still be compatible with other Lego trains? Which existing Model Team sets do you feel are compatible with minifig scale? I guess minifigs wouldn't look *too* out of place in a (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: A large Steam Locomotive

I actually am looking at the same thing. Not all Model Team sets are incompatible with mini-fig scale. Most are larger than that, just due to the fact that they are big sets. Imagine how much larger a Locomotive is when compared to a semi truck. To (...) (25 years ago, 27-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: A large Steam Locomotive

I think you're talking two different thing here (though both would be exceedingly cool.) A Model Team loco would be about as compatible with normal Lego trains as other Model Team sets are with minifs, i.e. not at all. If I ever get around to (...) (25 years ago, 27-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: A large Steam Locomotive

Man, you would not believe how much I would LOVE a steam loco with the old large spoked train wheels. I am positive that the train group would go crazy for it, as long as it was made with parts that could be used with the normal Lego trains. If not (...)   A large Steam Locomotive

Isn't about time Lego Came out with A large steam Locomotive for there model team? They Have done 3 Vans #5550, #5561 and #5581. there are 3 model team trucks 5561, 5571 and 5580 not to mention 5590 and 5591. O.K. we have trucks and we have vans (...)   RE: Is 5563 worth getting?

I got one for Christmas but still haven't had a chance to put it together. It's definitely overpriced. The big chrome piece couldn't have been pieced together from smalling existing pieces but I definitely would have preferred it to be 2 or 3 (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  RE: Huh?!?!?!

(...) I seem to remember reading somewhere (probably r.t.l) that the series was available in Europe for a while before finally being released in the States in '89. The 5540 I found at a Service Merchandise surprisingly late ('94 or '95) is copyright (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: Huh?!?!?!

(...) This reminds me. A while back I was looking through my LEGO instructions and catalouge collection. And I remember being very curious as to why my 5510 instructions were dated (c)1986. (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: Huh?!?!?!

(...) My brother found a 5540 in a Jamesway in 87 or 88. The box and instructions are (c) 86 I think. I'll have to verify this however. KL (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: Huh?!?!?!

(...) AFAIK it's not a limited series. It was available in Holland for a couple of years from '86 (I believe to '88 but I have no catalog near me to verify that) It just makes me wonder what the Pause database takes as 'release date' of a set. (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Is 5563 worth getting?

A week ago I acquired a copy of 5571. It took 2 full evenings to put it together and it was well worth the inflated eBay price. Overall it is an outstanding very detailed set and is definitely a keeper. I'd give it a rating of 10 out of 10. The 5563 (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Huh?!?!?!

I was looking through the catalogs at Brickshelf and found a 1986 catalouge with Model Team sets in it (5510, 5540, and 5580). I though MT came out in '89. What's the deal? Was it a limited realese? (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)

  Re: 5571

(...) Probably your best bet would be ebay. That's where I got mine. Unless there's someone out there willing to sell you one right here. (not me, I'm keeping mine). :) Just go to ebay and type 5571 in the search box. You'll find the occasional (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jan-00, to lugnet.modelteam)
