Thanks for the info, but where is this Wal-Mart located? The on-line store at Wal-mart.com appears closed for renovations. And Wal-Mart's sales vary greatly from store to store. Yes, they take orders over the phone, yes they ship, no, their prices aren't any better than S@H (neither is their selection, really). Time to jump in.... The FOS uses a small surface mount LED. It's about 2.5mm x 3 mm and mounted to a thin PCB. There are what look like diodes and what I would guess are current limiting resistors on the board also, so good luck trying to have (...) (...) Yes. Of course. Those are the best ones. LED's are basically just Diodes that make light. So you can "Twist" two LED's together to get one on each polarity. (...) If you don't use a tiny ultra bright one you won't get much... Also, the circuit it the thing is already making sure the power flows to the LED one way. So you'd have to disable that as well if you want the multicolour LED's. My favs are the (...) Has anyone cracked opened one of the FOS units? What is the light source? I assume that there is only one light source that is somehow distributed by the rotary action. I got Extreme Creatures about a month ago when it was last on special at S@H for $25. I guess for the Fibre Optic unit and the collection of parts, it's not a bad price. Yes, I've noticed it here in western Ohio, too, but some I think is simply seasonal re-arrangement that they do.
