Intl MOs are available in the US from the USPS.  NOTE, however, that for many countries,
the entire process to get your IPMO can take WEEKS.  First you pay the local PO - they send
it off to St Louis or someplace, which creates the IPMO, and mails it back to you.  Rather
insane.

Luckily, that's not the case for Canada, you can get IPMOs at the USPS for Canada and a few
other countries.  And you can cash Canadian PMOs (and Japan, and a few other countries) for
free there too.

That, my friend is why they invented the money order: reasonably cheap for the
buyer, costs nothing the for the casher (I think, dont quote me on this) and is
accepted worldwide (you just get it in the correct currency). The buyers end
handles the currency conversion so the seller gets it ready to go in us$ or euros
or whatever.

Remember that international money orders aren't available everywhere,
though.
New Zealand is one such country...

For those countries where they can be obtained then it is the easiest way to send money
internationally.

Thanks, Tom, for reminding me why this was such a problem. What you didn't add was that you can't lock in the exchange rate when you pay the local Post Office. Instead, they cut the money order in St Louis at the exchange rate prevailing whenever (...) (25 years ago, 8-May-00, to lugnet.market.auction)
