The bidding mechanism also has some new functionality. Assume the current lot is open with no bids and a $10 minimum. Next, assume it is an Airport Shuttle - built once. Larry, I must protest! In designing the system, I wanted first of all to allow firm bidding - which is an important signialing tool in an auction. Apart from a few replies that have indicated AUCZilla and possibly others don't work, this way, I'd be surprised if any bidding software actually used that sort of algorithm to calculate the new bid, simply because it's such a computationally (...) In an attempt to be fair - in an environment that allows both firm and proxy bids - we arrived at the following, which acts in favor of the existing high bidder in 2 of 3 cases:: Starting bid $100. I don't know how AucZILLA works- but a lot of commercial auction sites claim to have taken this into account and claim that the earlier bid would win.
