I like the variety of newer faces for lego minifigs, but in some cases,
I think TLG's gone too far*. I mean, printing a very intricate face on
the standard yellow LEGO head seems a bit like putting a spoiler on a
Model-T IMO. That's not to say that they should switch to realistic
flesh-toned heads with noses and such, but a strict return to classic
smiley faces is also a mistake, I think. Moderation is the key.

Like I said, _moderation_

I agree. The whole point of lego is to build anything you want with
universall elements. Doesn't seem to be much room for creativity with
the new insectiod elements. I'd take three classic 2x4 bricks over a
Big-Ugly-Leg-Piece any day.

Sorry to nitpick, (I prefer to think of it as _illuminating_) but ninja
are Japanese(not Chinese.) Sort of the antithesis of the Samurai. The
dojo is a school or place of training for Japanese martial arts, such as
karate or judo.
When I heard about Ninja, I had hoped for a Shinto (the indigeneous
Japanese religeon) temple set, too.
*okay, now the funny story. I was sitting in my living room with my
girlfriend and mother today, sorting some LEGO I had recently purchased.
I happened across a Timmy figure and said, "Want to see the universally
hated minifigure of all RTL'ers?" and handed it to her. She looked at
it, then proceeded to laugh. LOUD. For FIVE MINUTES. When she
recovered, she asked if she could keep it, to cheer her up when she was
feeling down. I said sure.
Take care.
