I'm torn about this. I agree that lugnet.announcements might be a problem,
since the supposition seems to be that information posted there is presented
as accurate in good faith. I'd be less worked up about a hoax posted to an
appropriate group, such as if the BURP-BURP were posted to lugnet.starwars.
There, it seems, the criteria for a general announcement are less formal.
At the same time, I think limiting hoaxes to April Fools' is self-
defeating. That's like saying we can only have a hoax if the hoaxer(?) labels
it as such--what's the point of someone's hard-wrought hoax, if there's no
joke to be made as a result?
