What non-LEGO entities are lurking in your LEGO collection?

I sort most of my bricks by size and color.  However, I have a large
catch-all bin (about 2 feet by 3 feet by 1 foot) if miscellaneous parts that
haven't yet been sorted.

This bin includes portions of my childhood collection as well as collections
aquired from some other children.

I'm always amazed at the non-LEGO stuff I find in this collection.

I have found:

thumb-tacks (removed after I was impaled)
a football figure
coins
plastic model pieces from the 70's (my favorite is a radar antenna from the
original Star Trek Enterprise)
wires and pieces of wire covering (I was into electronics)
a plastic cover for an old relay (again from my electronics hobby)
misc. bits of paper
various unidentifiable small toys.
some Brix-Blocs pieces (these pre-date the LEGO pieces)
The tail fin of a balsa wood airplane

What interesting things have you found in your LEGO collection?

Right now, I don't have any old un-sorted lego, because it's in storage, far away from me. However, when I did, I used to constantly find non-lego stuff. Me in my cousin got into a habit of setting them aside in order to organize the collection - (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.general)

I forgot. I also have some bits and pieces of old Micronaut toys. These were my favorites prior to my discovering LEGO. They were made up of interchangeable pieces as well. They were popular in about 1973-77. Did anyone play with these? Brad (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.general)
