Richard,

First let me say that I’m glad you stepped into the CW admin role when you did, and am glad the site has been preserved.

But I don’t think we need to respect the wishes of people who haven’t been apart of the community for 1 year +. Nothing against them, I’m sure they were all great people, but I think it is time for a change!

CW should be able to adapt to the changing situation of the LEGO community at large, and the castle community in particular. I think a cosmetic change would be very beneficial. Perhaps as a compromise certain elements could be maintained, or even a link to the archived webpages.

Also, I think a change in how the CW site works would be a good idea. Perhaps instead of endless pictures and text to be input by an admin, we could work some sort of minimalist approach that provides link’s to member’s homepages, with pictures of Sigfigs only, etc. Something that would make the admin’s job a bit less daunting. I don’t want CW’s life or death to depend on whether we can find someone who can devote 20+ hours a week to maintaining the site. It should be very easy and minimal.

Also, a revamped CW site could include (just a brain storm, here) - a message board for the *exclusive* use of being a place of IOM-esque story-telling (still including links back to lugnet.castle). THUS, IOM-CW type action doesn’t have to clog .castle or .castle.org.cw - but .castle isn’t in any way abandoned in favor of a seperate site.

This would also allow for an easy way for people to visually see the stories taking place, in a way that steps out of the Starship problem where gameplay/story telling is done via private email. This would help make it aparent how the game/story is played, and how people could join in, etc.

Of course, just a brainstorm.

And lastly, did you get Anthony’s permission before posting the private email? While I agree that things are best said in the open, often there are times where private conversation is preferred for a variety of reasons. Assuming Anthony would be fine letting private messages to you be publically published is a leap of faith, and while I know Anthony to be a generally easy going guy, please make sure you have permission before doing such a thing.

One last last thing.. perhaps we should start a new thread?

-Lenny
