Hello fellow castleheads,
I am pleased to announce a new castle website in the process of being put
together this fall. Earlier this summer Lenny Hoffman and I agreed that it
would be nice to have a castle website that served several missing functions in
the community. We would like to have free advertising for all currently
available custom castle sets and instructions, a featured building instructions
area, highlighted creations, interviews of builders, and maybe a forums area to
discuss all things castle related.
Our site and organization would be called the Castle Builders Guild ( tm )
An extremely rough mockup of the site can be seen here:

Future plans in the works include an interview with Dan Siskind about his
building techniques and periodic instructions to some of Jon Furmans Provincial
Village buildings.
Lenny and I intend to pay money for website hosting and maybe a forums area
similar to what fbtb.net has.
Is anyone interested in helping us put together the website. Our web skills are
ok but not great. What types of features could be added to a site like this? A
buy/sell/trade area and a castle news section could be added as well.
Please give us feedback.
We are also interested in producing more affordable custom sets for minimal
profit (which may be used to fund the site). With that in mind I threw together
four possible set ideas.
001 Falcons Gate - @ $60
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=53019
002 Knights Inn - @ $20
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=53020
003 Archers Tower - @ $12
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=53018
004 Sentrys Wall - @ $12
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=53021
I would also like feedback on the sets: is there any interest in them, what do
you think about the pricetag, are there other types of sets you are looking for.
If there is enough interest, Lenny and I would consider producing sets this
fall.
Thanks again for any feedback.
Ben Ellermann

| I'm not sure I understand why any of these things need to be done outside the boundries of Lugnet and Brickshelf. Could you better detail the reasons to have a new site and why it should be independent of the existing community here? I was thinking (...) (21 years ago, 11-Aug-03, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

| Hi, I really like the idea of a castle related community site. I think times have changed, if you want new people in the castle community, you'll get them in easier via a website and forum, lot's of people can't find their way to newsgroups. A forum (...) | Wow, I think that I have opened a big can of worms :) I have read everyones responses so far. Here are some of my thoughts. How about a compromise? A castle site similar to ILTCO could be set up. It could link to current lugnet.castle threads, (...) (21 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.castle)

| Ben, My comments are below yours. (...) I like the idea of an (URL) or an (URL) site. I think it is overdue for the castle theme. It would be a great place for a standard to be created and diseminated. After looking over you post and taking a look (...) (21 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.castle, FTX)
