LOL, that's kind of like saying, "Did I mention that I loathe Microsoft?"
(Hmmm... You probably say that too..) AutoCAD is the 300lb gorilla of CAD.

Of course you're correct. But keep in mind CAD software was written to do a
specific job as well - design for manufacturing. While CAD and CG have A LOT in
common, there are reasons for the size/cost of their respective applications.
You won't see me complaining about Cinema 4D because it can't stress test an
engine block design, for example.
But then again my corpse is still smoking at the stake for suggesting a CAD
link to LDraw might be useful to AFOL.. Good luck with your work - if you
succeed it may open a backdoor into Ldraw for me and my ilk. :)
