That's what I thought too, but it actually takes up to 48-bit color and 16
bit grayscale images.

Exactly my thoughts. PNG-only support will simplify the program without
sacrificing any key strength. What is more, moving from BMP to PNG makes the
program less M-centric - nothing to frown on, IMHO.
