How about the Lost Continent of Atlantis?

Not a bad idea (you're not the first to mention it :).

I am sure you are correct.  I mentioned it in order to spark conversation and
ideas for sets.  I don't remember having heard of it before but if I
misrepresented I do apologize, I am not here to seek credit only chat with
other collectors.

As for woolly mammoths I am not going to disagree that
they would be a cool addition,

I strongly dislike all those pre-molded animals LEGO has
started producing recently (within the last fifteen years or
so). What is wrong with building the animals yourself?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with building your own animals, parts,
people, etc., etc. etc.  I believe Steve and myself were just throwing around
some ideas for animals we wanted to see.  We also did not specifically say we
wanted SPUD pieces, we just want to see the animals in whatever form possible
because even a poor attempt by TLG is better than no attempt.

and while we are wishing for extinct animals why did lego
never do a dinosaur set?

They did. See [1] for some of them.

I should have been more specific here, I was aware of the Duplo sets.  These
however fall into your SPUD category and are hardly worth coupling with
regular legos in my opinion.  Again that is just my opinion.

And even if things were less fanciful, I for one would
love to have a mini-walrus, even a single-piece one.

One more SPUD[2]?

We all have a right to our opinions and again I say any piece is better than
no piece.

You and I have similar tastes I can tell.  How cool would that walrus be
chasing lego seals and penguins for fun?  But if they did the walrus they
would have to give me a killer whale to eat him with.

And more of them? :-(

See the above answer again.  Keep in mind we are only chat room guests not
Lego Group developers.  It would be nice to think they are listening in but I
think that would be very wishful thinking.

Play well,

Jacob (SPUDs are evil - ten wide trains are go(o)d ;-)

Play well also Jacob,
Mark L   the SPUD champion (I guess)
