The legend of Atlantis is in part built on the destruction of Santorini
(Thera), the volcano that did the natural boiler explosion in the
Mediterranean.  It left an atoll-like - yes, I'm stretching the definition,
coral likes warmer waters - island ring (a whopping great caldera).  I really
don't know the specifics of vulcanism in the Med, but with the African plate
crashing into the european and middle east plates, it would seem to me to have
its fair share of volcanoes - Aetna, Vesuvius and Thera to name the most • famous
ones.

Wow, that's really interesting Bruce.  Thanks for the brief geology lesson.  I
think I will look into this some more and post up my findings.  This post site
is truly one of LUGNET's best.  You never know what you are going to get
here.  Sometimes it is silly, grumpy, factual, confrontational, etc.  A real
mixed bag that I truly enjoy.

On another note, where are all you aeronautical engineers?  I want to know
what you thought of the other five airplanes in the line, not just the biwing
baron and pontoon plane.  Let us hear from you about the white biwing, the
balloon, the dirigible, and the minis.  We want to know your thoughts.

And a final note, hey Joseph where are you?  Toss in your two cents when you
have time.

(...) Ah, now I understand. (...) I see your point. I guess that it all goes back to the label on the boxes that says ages 5-12. I can't fault them for making the sets gimicky, but like you, I wish for a little more 'meat and potatoes' in the box. (...) (25 years ago, 11-Oct-99, to lugnet.adventurers)
