If you find that you are spending a lot of time looking up sets by name or number -- fiddling with URLs, bookmarks, search boxes, etc. -- then here's a little (and I mean little!) utility which might help save you time. I don't know of any way, no, but in a former life I used to do lots of Win32 GUI programming, so I'm going to bet that it's possible that there's a tool out there somewhere (something akin to WinSpy++) that would let a user choose a window and (...) (...) well, the thing is, you need to close the window the pops up before it loads anything at all... if you're too slow, it loads the js that tells it to reopen the window when you close the current one... or, (untested), you could turn off java in (...) (...) Do you mean the (somewhat oldish) RMAIL mail reader in Emacs or the full news/mail reader Gnus? I find that Emacs/Gnus is great for reading LUGNET news groups off the NNTP server.
