problems with bridges (96 studs long) mounted on a table 30 bricks below the
zero level (zero level = 75 cm above ground level). The piles from the bridge
where bend (broken) due to this problem. I just placed 4 gray base plates of
48*48 studs in line, fixed with 2*4 plates, and measured the distance between
the two middle base plates. This gives me 767mm. I guess that this would be
better than using 768mm. Additional problems are humidity (we use MDF sheets),
cutting and mounting tolerance and the tolerance on the LEGO bricks. As stated
in the following tread: http://news.lugnet.com/lego/?n=2139&t=i&v=a is abouth
6%.

I'm surprised you would use inches as your base measurement, since you are based
in Europe.  Why didn't you just use the simple formula 1 stud = 8 mm?
