When setting up tables for a show, we can typically have all of our
tables setup and in place within minutes. No bolts and wrenches required.
We thought about that too, but decided we had to build custom tables or they
might spread apart, causing derailments. How do you keep them together? Do
you clamp them or something?

I should point out that at SCLTC, we initially provided spring clamps for
temporary connection ($0.99 each) or until bolts were installed, but decided
that they really were not necessary. We use wing nuts and just fasten the bolts
finger tight, so we dont use wrenches. When everything arrives prebuilt on
tables, the time to assemble the tables (pop on legs, position, and bolt
(typically 2 or 3 bolts per side) is the time to set up the layout. More
typically, however, we have complex table arrangements that take some time. But
most often, we get the prebuilts up quickly and then wait hours for individuals
with just a few base plates worth of stuff to position, reassemble, and fiddle
with their stuff. That last 10% typically takes 90% of the setup time.
