Having just returned from LL, I can say that Lar is right-- more like G scale. I can also say that the trains were probably the biggest disappoint of the park. Whoever built them knew little or nothing about engines and it showed:-( The rolling (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

When I attended the Legofest put on in March, I met two other train enthusiasts, one from San Diego county and the other from Orange (If I recall correctly). Having the club based in the middle of the state is a thought but it seems to me that (...) As you are in southern CA and others are in the North, I proposed having it based in the middle of the state. Sure, it is a drive for each set of people, but not like driving from San Diego to SF or vice versa. On another note, I am part way done (...) hmmmm sounds like fun. I do models on CAD thought. since im in the marines, my lego collection is at home in NY. i live near san clemente now. of coarse my models are of modern rr freight cars (like a road railer or a 72 foot center beem flat) (25 years ago, 3-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

Dave, I have the set of plans Ben Fleskes made up and although I hade a similar table made, I was going to make more and decided to change to Ben's design, as mine was probably overkill. Of course I was not implying that our scale of model trains is inferior to those made by the master builders. In fact, I believe that ours is far superior to theirs. TLG markets train sets to minifig size. I think Miniland should have been geared (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

I'd put Miniland scale at more like G... what we do is fairly close to O, inasmuch as you can say that we work to any scale in particular. (...) I'd say that PNLTC and GMLTC layouts are no slouches, sizewise. (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

I've been working on building a roadbed for the track with plates. So far I've only got roadbed under 1 straight, 4 curves and then 2 more straights. It's looking pretty good so far but I've got a long way to go. I haven't been able to work on it (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

It's funny that it looks like the shock absorber has appeared mainly in applications it doesn't seem t be orginally intended for (shock absorber for small town cars). Maybe it was 'replaced' for this purpose by the dual axle spring loaded wheels (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

What in particular did you want to know? rec.models.railroad is a good resource for dejanews searches for information... (...) yours) I'm guessing. The lead (5601) unit seems EMDish. 6 axle so some kind of SD if it's EMD. CN was an early adoptor of (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)
