Oh, you wanted to know about the COMPANIES! Why didn't you say so?!? The
subject is identifying trains... so that's what I did. Who cares about
the companies. :-)
OK. Fine.
CN is Canadian National. This is one of two canadian transcontinental
lines, and at one point was owned (still is?? perhaps one of our
socialist brothers to the north can comment) by the national government,
hence the name. The other arcadian transcon is Canadian Pacific which is
privately held. (well, that's one out of two anyway)
All CN and affilliated companies use that sloppy white noodle logotype
that you saw on both the CN units and the GTW units, just different
letters. The color schemes vary, though... CN is mostly black or black
and white zebra stripes (for passenger service, (which they have
exited)) with red cabs. GTW and Vermont are Blue with red cabs, I think.
All CP and affiated companies are switching to a unified paint scheme
which is all red except for a white semicircle and a black vertical
icosoles (I cannot spell that. sorry!) triangle.
I stand by my pointer to rec.models.railroad as well as rec.railroad
A quick yahoo search could be easily tried... I highly recommend it.
Try:
http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p=canadian+national+railway
and
http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p=canadian+pacific+railway
for arcadian information.

| Larry, Oh no, I appreciate all the information you have on these trains. I just never investigated them until recently, just to get a better idea of everything. Knowing that there are some very knowledgeable people on Lugnet and the like, I know (...) (25 years ago, 18-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)

| Larry, Wow, that was a informed response! :) I was just wondering about the companies and so forth. I am just getting into trains, and I guess I wanted to know some background on them. Do they have a website or anything? Scott Sanburn (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jun-99, to lugnet.trains)
