Name of Theme: LEGO Neighborhood (kind of a lame title but that’s the concept)

Kinda like a “LEGO City Suburb”, or more like a LEGO...“town” (yes, the throwback is intentional), as opposed to “LEGO City”... so LEGO City is more urban, “LEGO Town” would be more suburban or “small town” setting.

Short description of Theme: Provides everyday aspects of minifig life

Three possible sets for Theme with descriptions:

1) An apartment building or row of townhouses
I’d particurlarly like to see one of the old 50’s style two-story motels that could be built on the corner of a 32x32 baseplate. Would go very nicely with the updated town plan set.

2) Specialty shops/restaurants like Cafe Corner/Market Street/Green Grocer but not as detailed or expensive
I’d say the scourge of America...the “strip mall” could be a great theme that would encourage lots of LDD building as well. Would be easy to incorporate lots of figures...and it would be nice to include both male and female hair pieces in the layout (I hope somebody is listening...MORE GIRL hairpieces...and if TLG is listening...thank you for the Agent Trace and Marion(Indiana Jones) hairpieces!

3) Lots more -- see below

Is this an official response to that thread we had earlier this year?

My two replies from that thread: http://news.lugnet.com/ambassadors/?n=339 http://news.lugnet.com/ambassadors/?n=381

Basic principles are these:

1. The city shouldn’t be in so much constant peril that each year it needs countless new fire stations, police stations, hospitals, and search & rescue squads.

2. Ask yourself the following: Where do minifigs live in this city? Where do minifigs work in this city? Where do minifigs play in this city? The city needs more things like stores, banks, restaurants, houses, apartment buildings, parks, theaters, gardens, museums, schools, post offices, courthouses, city halls, parades, amusement/theme parks, etc.

Let’s add: supermarkets, open air malls, hotels, hm.. maybe water towers, billboards/signs, bookstores...

(...) This is actually a great idea. It could be modular-ized in a way similar to the Cafe Corner series, but it would be much smaller sets, making them more affordable. Some buyers could get just a few shops, while others might buy multiple copies. (...) (16 years ago, 12-Jul-08, to lugnet.town, FTX)
