This is actually a great idea. It could be modular-ized in a way similar to the
Cafe Corner series, but it would be much smaller sets, making them more
affordable. Some buyers could get just a few shops, while others might buy
multiple copies. The former would get a small strip mall or maybe separate
shops, while the latter would have the option to combine the sets into a massive
mall.
There are dozens of different storefronts that could be included in this series.
To name a few ideas, the strip malls nearest me include an Electronics Store,
several Clothing Stores, a Shoe Store, a Sporting Goods Store, a Grocery Store,
a Bank, a Pharmacy, an Insurance Office, a Photocopy Center, a Sandwich Shop, a
Thrift Store, and an Auto Parts Store.
Also, perhaps one set in this series could be a Parking Lot. One thing that
separates a strip mall from downtown shops is that it is typically built around
or along a large parking area. Such a set could just be a square of tiles with
white or yellow tiles to indicate parking spaces. The set might include a light
pole or a car or two. And it should be modular - perhaps one row of tiles is
offset to overlap and connect with other copies of the same set (thus several
copies makes a large parking lot).
If each of these were sold separately, it would inspire the collectors-in-us to
want them all. Even if someone bought them and spread them out in a layout,
they would give all those construction workers something to maintain, the cargo
carriers something to deliver, and all the police and firefighters something to
protect.
Neat idea!
